Wall-E.

September 21, 2008

I really liked wall-e’s concept. It isn’t something really new, this vision of the future. Where everyone would be over reliant on machines. Limbs lose their purpose, people don’t even bother turning their heads. haha. And thus of course, they become obese. However what really mesmerized me was the story-telling of the movie. Pixar is still Pixar.

With a magical touch of the animators, even a machine can come alive and be full of character. And somehow, they manage to do it perfectly without dialogues. Its godly! Wall-E moving his eyes up and down, taking off his ’shoes’, arranges his collection of junks and spare parts. SO GOOODDDDDD.

And yea, it was great to meet up with some of the e4ians. and I actually ate at popeye for the first time in my life. wooh. ok. lol. Now I am finally quite free. So I am back into rotting everyday. But not bad, this holiday started with some productivity before it came into full rotting mode. Unlike last time, it was permanant full rotting mode all the wayyy. And try to find jobs, but fail. Super loser. haha. It is true that nobody wants someone who can’t work for more than a month. arrr.

End off with a pic. Look at the happy faces of POP. haha
can you spot my brother?

Paralympics: Singapore wins first-ever medal at Equestrian event

SINGAPORE : Singapore’s Laurentia Tan has won the bronze medal in an Equestrian event on Tuesday, giving the country its first-ever medal at the Beijing 2008 Paralympics Games.

Tan, who rode on horse “Nothing To Lose”, took third placing in the Individual Championship Test Grade 1A event. Britain’s Anne Dunham and S Christiansen took the gold and silver respectively.

Tan will be the first to receive the Athletes Achievement Award (AAA) set up by the Singapore National Paralympic Council. The award comprises a monetary reward of S$25,000 for her bronze medal in the individual event.

The AAA incentives of S$100,000, S$50,000 and S$25,000 are respectively for gold, silver and bronze medal placings at the Paralympic Games individual events.

In swimming, Singapore’s Theresa Goh clocked 3 mins 14.22 secs to settle for fourth placing in the 200-metre freestyle event.

She had also come in fourth in the overall heats in the morning.

Singapore sailors Jovin Tan and Desiree Lim are in eighth place so far in the Two-Person Keelboat (SKUD18) event.

They have completed five races so far, with six more to go before the event wraps up on September 13. – CNA /ls

They are getting a lot less(incentives) compared to olympics winners. Theres a debate going on whether they should be treated the same as olympic winners. Some cry discrimination. Others say it is not the same, and cannot be treated the same.

I do not feel that they should get the same amount. Any kind soul would want them to get as much as those olympic winners like Li Jia Wei, Yue Gu Wang etc. In terms of effort, Laurentia definitely did not lose to them, or might even have put in more effort.

But on the realistic side, we see that olympic is much more prestigious and known. Honestly I didn’t know about paralympics before I saw this news. Thus reason for the incentives.

Maybe giving less might have made Laurentia feel better. Less discriminated. Hah. don’t know. See from shows, some handicap prefer not to recieve help from others, the more you try to help them, the more discrimination they feel, as if you’re looking down on them. Who knows. maybe thats true.

But well, it is a bronze medal from a true Singaporean. NICEE
